Inspired by contemporary American country musicians, Mick Lindsay first picked up a guitar at 17 and has spent the past decade honing his distinctive style of 'country-fried rock,' fusing the best elements of country rock, pop and funk in a high-energy performance.
With thousands of gigs behind him, Mick released his self-titled debut album in 2014 to great acclaim and is currently on the road with his first ever ticketed tour, joined by his talented band members and special guests from the KIX Country roster.
Live in Emerald Mick Lindsay and special guests pass through Emerald this Thursday on their tour of seven communities across Queensland, from Townsville to Brisbane.
After an explosive start in Townsville last Saturday, the singer-songwriter is excited about bringing his energetic show to Emerald, where he's confident he can win over more converts to country music.
"A lot of people who don't normally listen to country music, they see us play and they love the show," Mick said.
"They asked what kind of band we are. We say 'country' and they don't have an idea about what country music is. I have the feeling that country music is changing and is new and fresh. It's a lot of energy, and laughing, and good times."
Special guest Missy Lancaster was invited to join the band on tour on the strength of her recent EP release. Mick explains, "It's good to have a girl on tour, just to break the masculinity. She does a fantastic performance.
"I'm not sure exactly what we're going to prepare together for the Emerald show, because every show we try to have a couple of little surprises to make it a little bit different."
What's next? After completing the May tour, Mick Lindsay will head back to the Nashville studios in June to record his second album, scheduled for an August release. You can keep up with the latest news about music releases and tour dates at
